i was chatting with my boss at Portero, and he found it amusing that the iPod app has such a prominent place on my iPhone. he said he'd rather have easy access to his calendar than his music. it's interesting to see how everyone arranges their apps to suit their own preferences. after playing with my phone a while, these are the apps that have made the cut and the ordering that works for me. i plan to write more on the apps later, so check back!

these are my go-to apps. they're generally grouped by row. notable players include transportation and task management apps.

One of the most amazing and annoying things in Drupal 6 is the menu system. Thanks to a bunch of JavaScript magick, you can drag menu items around to reorder them, create submenus, and so forth. Unfortunately, once you've moved a menu item it no longer alphabetizes itself. If you want things to alphabetize themselves again, you are left with two options:

You can manually alphabetize the menu or submenu every time you change things or add a new menu item, forever and ever and ever. If you're not too keen on that idea, you can edit each of the menu items and reset their weight to 0, which makes them alphabetize again.

Neither option is ideal, so I created a third: this bookmarklet will set the weight of all menu items to 0 in one fell swoop. It also works for resetting block sort order, if you wanted to do that for some reason.

I've been using Google's "Edit Search Results" since I blogged about it yesterday, and I have a couple further observations.

I Googled something a minute ago and noticed that my SERP looked a little different:

In particular, check out those three grey icons. They appear next to every result on the page, but there isn't any noticeable indication why they're there. So I clicked one :)

The link turned green, which was fun. But the most exciting thing was that it moved to the top of the page—with a nice, slick animation. Apparently Google is letting me customize the results of my search.
