i'm so over iTunes

3.2 ghz core 2 duo
4 gb pc2-6400 ram
10,000 rpm sata hard drive

so why is iTunes still so incredibly slow?

I'm still back here at Pentium IV--3.00GHz, 512MB RAM, 7200rpm drive. When I alt-tab to iTunes and hit play, my songs will often stutter and skip for the first few seconds as they rebuffer. From the disk.

I really like so much about iTunes, I just loath it's inability to be fast. How I miss foobar2000! It's speeds, light memory footprint and extensibility was really true love.

songbird is promising, but it's still pretty quirky. and it doesn't quite feel like a mac app yet.
