msplinks.com link generator
Note: Myspace recently changed the way they make msplinks. This tool prob'ly doesn't work anymore...
a while back i mentioned that MySpace and msplinks do dirty things to links.
this bugs me a bit, so i've been trying to figure out ways to mess with 'em. i've got nothing good so far, but in the process i noticed that MySpace doesn't generate a new link for each address (like TinyURL, for example). instead they encode the address in the msplinks url. so an address can be encoded into a msplink even if MySpace has never seen that address before.
while i was playing with msplinks, i created a converter. put any url into it, and it'll spit out a msplinks address. i haven't figured out anything particularly devious to use it for yet, but if you come up with something let me know.
have fun kids :-)
as pointed out by some poser, myspace sniffs referrers. if you click on an msplink on any website other than myspace, it will redirect to myspace instead of the actual target. this is prob'ly to keep people from using msplinks as a really annoying version of tinyURL...

This link is *not* myspace.com, it's justinhileman.info. Apparently it directs to myspace.com if the redirect isn't myspace.com.
you're right... myspace seems to be redirecting links with a referrer that isn't myspace.com to myspace instead of the link target. bummer.
In an attempt to find devious things, I discovered that if you use the msplink generator on its own output, you get a link that takes you straight to the myspace homepage.
Also, protocols other than http do not seem to be supported. :-(
Very mildly devious:
http://msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8v
Slightly more devious:
http://msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vMTI3LjAuMC4x
anything msplinks doesn't like (such as a doubly redirected link) it redirects to myspace.com. interesting that 127.0.0.1 made it through :)
the msplinks generator works with http and https. i don't believe msplinks supports protocols other than http/s... anyone noticed anything different?
Do you think there's a way t decode the links?
I'm not sure why this blogger feels like keeping the formula secret, but here is how you get a msplinks in PHP:
$your_url = 'http://google.com';
$msp_link = 'http://msplinks.com/' . base64_encode('01'.$your_url);
I feel that is better to contribute to the community than keep information private for your own gain.
What about an msplinks decoder? You'd think that would be somewhat more useful than this...
Hello!
I've been using myspace for a while now, and I've notice that it is very easy for one to play around with the coding of your profile.
Recently, I saw the myspace of one of my friends, she didn't have much on her profile, and I didn't even notice where the message box was, but then I saw a "link word" that said "msg me", I hovered over it and I notice the "msplinks.com" address in my status bar. When I clicked on it, it sended me to the message sending place of myspace.
I was wondering how she did this. I really don't want to ask her, because she might think I'm a weirdo or something. How can I do the same thing on my myspace profile?
thanks!
hi i have the same question you did about the little comment me and message me links.. but im still not quite sure how you do it... did you figure it out..?? could you help me?
it's actually pretty simple. go to your profile, right click on the "send me a message" link under your picture, and choose "copy link location" or something like that (it varies depending on what browser you use...)
then use that link in something that looks like this:
put that anywhere in your profile and you have a "message me" link.
Hello there
how can i put in myspace a clickable url that will redirect to my site?
how can i do that exactly with ur converter and some code which i dont know?
Before MySpace did the whole msplinks thing, I had a few linked images and hyper-links on my page. Since then they quit working, it pissed me off so I focused my anger towards hacking for any ways to bypass the msplinks restriction.
Guess what? I found it!
I am assuming you already understand html so if you don't understand, look to www.w3schools.com for advice. They have nothing to do with bypassing msplinks.
Okay here is the code to put a linked image on your page. Go ahead and copy+paste it into your page (anywhere you like). Don't forget to convert said areas with your own urls or it won't come out right.
I could not embed the actual code in here. Justin has it disallowed. so try this address:
http://i29.tinypic.com/2u5fhhe.jpg
Yes it is an image but the code should be self explanatory. You won't be able to copy+paste the text so you will have to manually type the code in to your page. Hope this helps. It works for me so it should work for you too.
