there's still hope. convert to the one true desktop environment:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktopthe above command will install KDE, the one true desktop environment. it will also change your life.

I'm still waiting for KDE 4.0 to come out (though it is looking better every day in the SVN builds)
