How to use your iPhone while lying down in bed.

I love my phone. But it sucks to use it while lying down, because no matter how I turn it, it tries to stay right-side-up. But I've figured out a coping mechanism. So here's how to use your iPhone while lying down in bed:

  1. Lay down on your side.
  2. Turn the iPhone on it's side, so it's actually usable.
  3. Open Safari, or any other app that can't stay right-side-up.
  4. Wait for the interface to turn all sideways and worthless.
  5. Turn it so that the iPhone is completely upside-down. Most apps, Safari included, won't know what to do… so they'll freak out and stay in landscape mode.
  6. Now the landscape mode is usable!

i will keep that in mind. lately my screen won't accept my commands because my fingers are so cold.

Does finger temperature make a difference? I haven't noticed any problems, but my hands are generally pretty warm...

It's easier than you're making it. Here's how you really do it.

Lay on your side. Now, even when laying completely sideways, it's usually more comfy to view the iphone on a slight angle, except, even when tipped slightly upward the iPhone goes to portrait. Well, don't tip it upward, tip it DOWNWARD.

It turns out that It doesn't matter which side you're laying on, the only thing that matters is that the iPhone's top side is sloping down. So, if your on your left side, face the iphone's top down and to the left. If on your right, down and to the right.

You were correct about the upside down thing, but, it's not that you're tricking the program. It just so happens that the iphone wants to go into portrait when pointing slightly upward, and will NOT go into landscape when it's being held slightly upside down.
