connectivity is not a sin

When the question of inappropriate use of technology arises, one must consider whether this question already falls under currently established policy. For example, a teacher in a classroom may wish to limit students' access to wireless internet in order to prevent inattention. The problem here is the use of the connection rather than the existence. When used appropriately, an internet connection can and will enhance a classroom learning experience. However, it can be--indeed, often is--used inappropriately. But the same argument can be applied to more traditional reading material.

freedom!1!!

that's it. i'm done. for a couple of weeks at least.

finally!

it's a long walk down that stairway...

things used to be simpler. elementary school. when we used to agonize over awkwardly duplicated, handwritten quizzes. copied in hazy purple ink. bleached white by the sunlight.

of course the tests weren't as difficult back then. once the teacher left room for our lopsided, unevenly spaced cursive, there wasn't much space for questions.

by middle school the tests were getting longer, though. and as agonizing as they were, you could take some consolation in the fact that they'd take a while to get back to you. hand grading tests took time.

the sting of a poor test was mostly gone by the time you finally got your score.

my life is a giant game of whack-a-moleĀ®

i focus my entire being on whatever ugly little mole pokes its head out. that's my nature. if i think about the other moles, i won't get to the current one before it's too late.

i beat one of 'em down, and another one appears. the quicker i whack one, the quicker the next shows up.

behind in school. behind in work... behind in pretty much everything, i think.

i don't even like to go to sleep anymore. it seems like i'm wasting time.

so that's my dilemma. how do i take my eye off the current problem long enough to think about what's coming next?

some things i'm digging.

recently i've been stoked about a couple of things...

  • i live in a really sweet house. i have a purple room, and my own bathroom. the main level is almost all hardwood floors, so it's great for dancing. and we just got fiber. now this house is EVEN COOLER!
  • i'm stoked about my new website. i think that two31.info is pretty stinkin' sweet. but i made it, so i might be a wee bit biased.
  • i'm pretty excited about my new job. i just got hired as the chem department's 'web guy'. for those that don't know, the chem department at byu has about the biggest computer support staff on campus (outside of the office of information technology, of course)...
