spam

i hate spammers

i have a server hosting a handful of sites. a combined total of about 6000 visitors per month.

in the last year, seven URLs have accounted for 58% of all error pages on that server. you'll never guess what they were.

that's right, they were seven trackback URLs for i heart stella, the scooter blog i host on that box. to give you a hint of the magnitude of this problem, i installed trackbacks on that blog in may, and only used them for about a week. those seven URLs have been returning "404: file not found" for almost seven months.

so far this year, ive received over three hundred thousand trackback attempts for pages that don't exist. i can guarantee that not one of them was legit.

you people make me sick.

To the author of the bot trying to comment spam my blog

I can almost guarantee that when I say "wow" in my blog, I'm not talking about World of Warcraft. If I am, in fact, talking about World of Warcraft, I'm making fun of it. None of my readers come here because of the game. Your misdirected spam is worthless.

I'm not even a good match for your search term. My blog didn't show up until about #350 on Google. Until this post, my blog never mentioned World of Warcraft... I'm sure you could find a better blog to spam.

I don't care about power leveling my toon. I have never thought "Gosh, this lack of gold really suffers me." I have no desire to "have a try and amazing experience is there".

Please. Learn English. Then write a better spambot. This one's so bad it's almost insulting...

so what happened to "reduce"?

i got a credit card offer today that was printed on "50% post-consumer" recycled paper. forgive me for not being excited.

remember when you were a kid, and they taught you about the three Rs? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. that's how you save the environment. but it seems that everyone has forgotten about the first two in their rush to embrace the third. i think we're missing the point here.

take paper for example: paper recycling might do more harm than good.

attention scammers:

if you're going to claim to be from the UK, don't spell things like an american. and at least get someone fluent in english to proof your scam email before you send it.

kthx.

almost poetry

So they have this national "Do Not Call" registry.

That's great.

Know what I would love to see? A national "I'M 22 YEARS OLD AND DON'T NEED YOUR EFFIN' VIAGRA SPAM!" registry. That would be genius.

What do they think I'd need it for?
